A photo exhibit showcasing the environmental initiatives and accomplishments of the municipalities, academe, and major stakeholders of the Siargao Islands Protected Landscape and Seascape (SIPLAS) was one of the highlights of the opening of the weeklong celebration of the 27^th anniversary of the creation of the SIPLAS as a protected area on October 9-13, 2023 held at Bayay nan Numancia, Del Carmen, Siargao Islands.  The activity is a competition using recycled, reused, and indigenous materials in the most creative way possible under the theme “SIPAS Youth: Frontliner for Biodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Development.” The municipality of San Benito bagged the Best Booth Award, while the municipalities of Sta. Monica and Del Carmen got the second and third places, respectively.

CENRO Bislig headed by OIC, CENR Officer Nathaniel E. Racho conducts a re-echo on the Training/Practicum on Rescue, Response, and Rehabilitation Procedures for Marine Wildlife Stranding Incidence at the CENRO Bislig Conference Room in Mangagoy, Bislig City on October 6, 2023, and field application at Lodestone Shore Resort located at Pangasinan Island, Portlamon, Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur on October 13-14, 2023.

The activity sought to enhance the skills and capacitate the participants to become potential wildlife first responders and ensure the protection and conservation of marine wildlife and their habitats.

The DENR Caraga Employees Union (DECAEMU) celebrates its 20th anniversary through the conduct of free medical check-ups, eye check-ups, notarial services, counsel consultation, and mental health awareness orientation on October 3, 2023, at the Regional Learning Center in Brgy. Ambago, Butuan City. The series of activities was conducted for the welfare of members. The DECAEMU was founded on September 18, 2003.

Commemorating the 123rd Anniversary of the Philippine Civil Service Commission (CSC), the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Caraga, as the primary agency responsible for the conservation, management, development, and proper use of the country’s environment and natural resources, displayed full support by contributing  700 bani seedlings through CENRO Nasipit led by OIC-CENR Officer Nelson B. Caranzo, for the Plant-Run Initiative at the planting site in San Roque, Punta, Nasipit, Agusan del Norte on September 17, 2023. Ninety-five (95) DENR-Caraga employees actively joined the activity.

Eighty-nine newly promoted and hired personnel of DENR Caraga took their oath of office before Regional Executive Director Nonito M. Tamayo in the mass oath-taking ceremony held at the office’s Covered Court in Ambago, Butuan City yesterday, September 11, 2023.

The 89 positions filled up include 24 positions in the different divisions of the Regional Office, 8 in PENRO Agusan del Norte, 22 under PENRO Agusan del Sur, 9 under PENRO Surigao del Norte, 21 from PENRO Surigao del Sur, and 5 from PENRO of the Province of Dinagat Islands.
