DENR Assistant Secretary for Field Operations – Mindanao and Legislative Affairs Joan A. Lagunda visited the Caraga Region on April 5-10, 2021.

In her meetings with the officials and personnel of the different DENR offices within the region, she highlighted that leadership is not a position or a title but it is action and leading by example. She also emphasized that DENR employees must take the DENR Core values such as discipline, excellence, responsibility and nobility, by heart for the good of public service.

ASec Lagunda visited a total of 16 sites including the DENR Caraga Regional Office, EMB Caraga Regional Office, seven (7) field offices (PENRO Agusan del Norte, CENRO Nasipit, PENRO Agusan del Sur, CENRO Bayugan, CENRO Bunawan, CENRO Lianga, and CENRO Bislig), Protected Area Superintendent Office of Agusan Marsh Wildlife Sanctuary, Sta. Irene Monitoring Station, Mechanized Nursery in Bislig, Forest and Wetland Research, Development and Extension Center (FWRDEC), and three (3) eco-tourism sites (Manlangit Nature Park, Enchanted River, and Tinuy-an Falls).

Aside from visiting the above-named sites, she spearheaded two (2) tree planting activities and a ceremonial ribbon cutting activity for the newly built CENRO Bislig building.

During her visit, she was accompanied by her Executive Assistant Vermon Timbas, Environmental Management Specialist II Analyn Padernal, representative from the Environmental Crimes Division of the National Bureau of Investigation Atty. Marvin Matamis, Regional Executive Director Nonito M. Tamayo, and Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services Atty. Claudio A. Nistal, Jr. The PENR Officers and CENR Officers within the areas visited also accompanied her during the official travel.##
