The DENR Caraga, under the leadership of Regional Executive Director Nonito M. Tamayo, joins the nation-wide observance of the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) 2022 on November 25 to December 12, 2022, with the theme “United for a VAW Free Philippines.”
The theme aims to highlight the powerful impact of combining individual efforts towards a collaborative and united thrust towards a VAW-free Philippines.
The region’s kick-off activity for this year is a motorcade/parade dubbed as the "Orange your Vehicle" within Butuan City, which was participated by employees from various national government agencies, academe, and other stakeholders.
Right after the parade, a short program was held to impart the region’s milestones of the efforts to prevent and address the issues of VAW in Caraga at the open area within the Philippine Science High School - Caraga Region Campus in Tiniwisan, Butuan City where the attendees took their oath and vowed to support the government's campaign to end VAW as one of the highlights of the activity.
This year’s campaign also aims to gain insights as to where the country is, in understanding and acting on VAW. The major activities will endeavor to gauge the awareness of citizens on VAW and its forms and manifestations as well as underscore the gains attained in the journey towards a VAW-free community.##
