“SCUBASURERO” activity for SIPLAS@26

Seven scuba divers from DENR-PENRO Surigao del Norte and Siargao Island Protected Landscape and Seascape-Protected Area Management Office (SIPLAS-PAMO) clean up the designated Marine Protected Area (MPA) in Pilar town (within Siargao) of submerged solid marine wastes dubbed as “scubasurero” during the recently concluded 26th SIPLAS anniversary celebration.

The divers gathered three sacks weighing 50 kilograms of solid wastes composed of plastic bottles, tin cans, glass bottles, used wheels, and pieces of broken house roofs which they turned over to the local government of Pilar for proper disposal.

The “scubasurero” is coined to raise awareness among the Siargaonons and its tourists on the importance of keeping our oceans clean.##

Racho of Bislig, and other DENR personnel together with Dr. Kennedy, Philippine Eagle Foundation (PEF) Executive Director Mr. Salvador, Dr. Ibanez, and other PEF staff, LGU Bislig City Officials, members of the Eagles Club, and Cantilan Bank President and former PEF and CSU Trustee Lt. Gen. (ret.) William K. Hotchkiss, plant trees at the DENR-CENRO Bislig “Arboretum and Rest and Recreation Area" in Sitio Sanyata, Barangay San Roque, Bislig City to exemplify their commitment of support to the campaign for the protection and conservation of the Philippine eagle by enhancing the forest which served as the raptors’ habitat.

DENR 13-CARSU sign MOA for students’ field practicum

DENR-13 Regional Executive Director (RED) Nonito M. Tamayo enters into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Caraga State University (CarSU) for the Field Practicum/On-the-Job Training of some 125 students of the university taking courses in the field of Agro-Forestry, Forestry and Environmental Science.

RED Tamayo signed the MOA on July 25, 2022 in Barangay Ambago, Butuan City with CarSU Forestry Department Chairperson Forester Joel A. Mercado, CarSU College of Forestry and Environmental Science Student Internship Program Coordinator Jennifer A. Tangonan, and DENR Caraga National Greening Program (NGP) Coordinator Development Management Officer V Luis P. Gonzaga.

Signing on behalf of CarSU President Dr. Anthony M. Penaso, who is currently out of the country, was the University Vice-President for Academic Affairs Dr. Rolando N. Paluga.

DENR Caraga headed by Regional Executive Director Nonito M. Tamayo conducted Command Conference on July 12, 2022 at the DENR Regional Learning Center, Ambago, Butuan City.

OIC, Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services Maritess M. Ocampo presided over the activity. It was participated by representatives from the Philippine National Police; Philippine Army's 402nd Brigade, 401st Brigade, and 10th Infantry Division represented by the commander of the 60th Infantry Batallion; National Intelligence Coordinating Agency; National Police Commission; Department of the Interior and Local Government; and personnel from DENR Caraga Regional Office and field offices (Agusan Del Sur and Surigao del Sur).
