Butuan City – DENR 13 Regional Executive Director Atty. Felix S. Alicer has commended the personnel of the DENR 13 Regional Office for donating at least their one-day salary to the Bayanihan Program of the President for relief goods to the indigent families suffering from the lockdown due to coronavirus (COVID-19) health crisis.

“This is our humble way of reaching out to the indigent families who are the most severely affected by the lockdown as economic activities had stopped“, RED Alicer said.
RED Alicer and his two Assistant Director for Technical Samuel C. Danganan and the Assistant Director for Management Aimee L. Dela Pena were among the first to chip in their one day salary followed by the heads of every division office and every personnel had voluntarily gave their shares. According to the regional finance officer, Ms. Racelyn A. Argocino, the amount contributed had reached P132,230 which was used in the purchase of several sacks of premium rice, canned goods, noodles, sugar and milk, from which a total of 262 food packs containing 8 kilos of rice, plus the other food stuffs were generated.

The distribution of relief goods had started in the morning and took place at the DENR 13 Covered Court where about a hundred drivers of non-motorized and motorized tricycles from Barangays Ambago and Libertad came to receive their share. They were obliged to wear facemask and maintained the social distancing protocol to protect them and the DENR personnel from being infected by the virus. The distribution of the food packs will continue tomorrow, Saturday, and on Monday, due to the color-coding scheme of the quarantine pass imposed by the LGU.

RED Alicer said the CENR and PENR offices of Lianga, Cantilan and Bislig in Surigao del Sur; Bunawan, Loreto, Talacogon and Bayugan in Agusan del Sur; Nasipit and Tubay in Agusan del Norte; Tubod and Surigao del Norte; and the Dinagat Province have also conducted the same activity of giving relief goods to the poor families over the past days. The DENR also donated lumbers to the frontline personnel manning checkpoints for the construction of cubicles for defogging disinfectants. ###
