DENR Caraga through its Regional Executive Director Nonito M. Tamayo has entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Taganito Mining Company (TMC) and Platinum Group Metals Corporation (PGMC) as its partner implementers for the โ€Adopt an NGP Site Programโ€ on November 4, 2021, at Sohoton Function Room, Gateway Hotel, Brgy. Luna, Surigao City.

The Agreement covers the enhancement of graduated National Greening Program (NGP) sites with low survival rate and those damaged by force majeure, fire, and other causality under CENRO Tubod in Surigao del Norte (SDN) and as part of the companiesโ€™ compliance with the issued Special Tree Cutting and Earth Balling Permit.

The ceremonial signing was graced by TMC Resident Mine Manager Engr. Artemio E. Valeroso, PGMC Vice President for Operations Engr. Corsino L. Odtojan, Assistant Regional Director (ARD) for Technical Services Maritess M. Ocampo, OIC-PENR Officer Alejandra B. Boiser of SDN, and CENR Officer Ruel E. Efren of Tubod, SDN.

The event was witnessed by Tapian Tagbuyawan Development Farmers Association Inc. (TATADFAI) Chairperson Rolando B. Rein; Barangay Cagtinae, Malimono, SDN NGP beneficiaries; and some DENR Caraga personnel.

Under the program, the proposed site for adoption of the TMC in partnership with TATADFAI is located at Brgy. Tapian, Mainit, SDN with an approximate area of 158 hectares. On the other hand, the proposed area to be maintained and protected by PGMC is located at Brgy. Cagtinae, Malimono, SDN and has an approximate area of 170 hectares.

Minimum health protocols were observed during the activity.
