DENR Caraga hosted the 2023-2032 Community-Based Forest Management (CBFM) Strategic Plan Consultation Workshop - Mindanao Cluster on October 18-20, 2022 at Dottie's Place Convention Hall in Butuan City.
The three-day workshop, organized by the DENR-Forest Management Bureau and the Forest Foundation Philippines (FFP) through the Yakap Kalikasan was attended by the CBFM focal persons and People’s Organization (POs) representatives from Regions 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13. The activity intended to develop strategies or steps for the effective implementation of the program and discuss anticipated concerns related to its 10-year implementation.
DENR Caraga Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services Maritess M. Ocampo, representing Regional Executive Director Nonito M. Tamayo, and Butuan City Councilor Honorable Arturo Gado, representing Butuan City Mayor Ronnie Vicente C. Lagnada, welcomed the participants during the first day of the event.
The event also showcased local products such as handicrafts and delicacies made by the POs from each region. These products were sold to the participants to help generate additional income for the members of their organizations.
CBFM, using the concept “People first and sustainable forestry will follow”, is supported under Presidential Executive Order No. 263 of 1995 also known as "Adopting Community Based Forest Management as the National Strategy to Ensure the Sustainable Development of the Country's Forestlands Resources and Providing Mechanisms for its Implementation".##
