BDCorridor

(The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), “Integrated Approach in the Management of Major Biodiversity Corridors in the Philippines” or “BDCorridor Project,” has successfully conducted the Biodiversity Corridor Protected Areas Conference on November 21-23, 2022 at The Ritz Hotel at Garden Oases, Davao City.

A total of 72 individuals composed of PENROs, CENROs, Protected Areas Superintendents (PASus), and representatives from DENR offices in the Eastern Mindanao Biodiversity Corridor (Regions XI and XIII) and Mindoro Biodiversity Corridor (Region 4B) participated in the undertaking.

A fruitful discussion took place at the conference as the presenters of the 22 Protected Areas shared their experiences, knowledge, and strategies in addressing the issues and gaps confronting the management of PAs.

The participants also heard the pitches from the invited resource persons who shared topics on "Philippine Biodiversity and its Relevant Framework", "Biodiversity-Friendly Enterprises (BDFE)", "Biodiversity-friendly Agricultural Practices (BDFAP)", "Mining in the Philippines and the Salient Provisions of DAO 2022-04 on Enhancing Biodiversity in Mining Operations", and "Protected Areas Financing".

The conference was a significant step in the joint efforts to halt and reverse biodiversity loss and ensure ecological conservation and social development. It further strengthened the network of protected areas within the Eastern Mindanao Biodiversity Corridor and Mindoro Biodiversity Corridor.)
