The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)- CARAGA held its 3rd Quarter Management Conference this year at its Regional Learning Center in Ambago, Butuan City, on September 19-21, 2023.
 
The 3-day meeting tackled the accomplishment and various concerns on the region’s deliverables and performances relative to the DENR’s priority programs. The event not only served as an opportunity to brainstorm brilliant ideas and foster collaborative efforts in the organization, but it also focused on acknowledging distinction in management practices.
The event was presided over by Regional Executive Director (RED) Nonito M. Tamayo, with the two Assistant Regional Directors for Management and Technical Services, Attorney Claudio A. Nistal, Jr. and Maritess M. Ocampo, respectively.
 
The PENR Officers from the five (5) provinces of the Caraga region, with their respective CENR Officers, Division Chiefs, and Planning Officers, were present. Aside from reporting their accomplishment as of the quarter, the PENR Officers also presented their corresponding outlook for their area of jurisdiction from this year onwards, as required by RED Tamayo.
 
The Regional Directors (RDs) from the Environment and Management Bureau (EMB) represented by Atty. Delmer Riparip, Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) RD Engr. Larry M. Heradez and Ecosystems Research and Development Bureau’s Forest and Wetland Research, Development and Extension Center (ERDB-FWRDEC) In-Charge Forester Joan S. Gilbero reported their performance vis-à-vis their targets.
 
The Regional Office Division Chiefs and the Planning Management Division Section Chiefs were also present.
 
Another highlight of the occasion was the recognition of the DENR Environmental Awards for Governance and Leadership (EAGLE) Award candidates and the Top-Performing Offices. The offices have excelled in their management obligations and have proven outstanding performance, devotion to environmental stewardship, and commitment to the department’s mission.
Contenders for the 2022 EAGLE Award recognized were PENRO Agusan del Norte for Supervising PENRO Category, PENRO Dinagat Islands for the Implementing PENRO Category, and CENRO Bislig for the CENRO Category. These achievements, coupled with the good performance of the regional and all other field offices, had propelled the inclusion of the DENR Caraga region as one of the five finalists for the DENR EAGLE awards for CY 2022 nationwide, which awarding will be held anytime soon.
