The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Monitoring Team, headed by the Regional Technical Advisor, Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific, Solene de Loze has commended the DENR-Caraga’s Physical Accomplishment for the Third Quarter of CY 2023 during the conduct of the field mission and oversight of the project entitled “Integrated Approach in the Management of Major Biodiversity Corridors in the Philippines” or Biodiversity (BD) Corridor executed by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)-Caraga Region, held at the DENR Regional Training Center, Butuan City on November 7, 2023.

The BD Corridor Project is funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) with DENR as the Executing Agency and the UNDP as the GEF Implementing Agency. It aims to operationalize integrated management of biodiversity corridors to generate multiple benefits including effective conservation of globally significant biodiversity, reduction of deforestation, and degradation of landscapes, and enhancement of livelihoods.

The UNDP Team also addressed the identified operational, financial, and programmatic challenges and constraints through the establishment of a remedial plan of action.
