DENR Assistant Secretary for Field Operations - Mindanao and Legislative Affairs, Dr. Joan A. Lagunda together with DENR Caraga Regional Executive Director Nonito M. Tamayo led the ribbon-cutting ceremony during the launching of the Butuan West Environment and Natural Resources (ENR) Monitoring, Information, and Assistance Center in Masao, Butuan City and the Camagong Anti-Environmental Crime Task Force Checkpoint in Nasipit, Agusan del Norte, Tabon-Tabon Anti-Environmental Crime Task Force Checkpoint in Sibagat, Agusan del Sur on September 20, 2021, and Cuevas Anti-Environmental Crime Task Force Checkpoint in Trento, Agusan del Sur on September 21, 2021.

The activity complies with the instruction of Asec Lagunda during the 1st DENR Mindanao Cluster Command Conference last January 2021 to set up or improve ENR Monitoring Stations and Checkpoints to strengthen the enforcement of environmental laws and bring the department's services closer to the people.

The event was witnessed by ARD for Technical Services Maritess M. Ocampo, ARD for Management Services Atty. Claudio A. Nistal Jr., PENR Officer Achilles Anthony C. Ebron, CENR Officer Joseph Leo E. Oconer, together with other DENR officials and personnel.

Proper health protocols were observed during the conduct of the activity.
