Gervacio underscores the importance of recycling water to address water scarcity during the “Kilos-kilos para sa Tubig” activity held Saturday, March 18, at the Quezon Memorial Circle – Liwasang Aurora.  The event, spearheaded by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources with support from other government agencies and private sector partners, is part of the celebration of Philippine Water Week, leading to the global observance of World Water Day on March 22, with theme:  Water and Wastewater. ###

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), together with other government agencies and private sector partners, treats the public with water craze games and fun activities like zumba dance sungka tournament, water relay, to name a few, on Saturday, March 18, at the Quezon City Memorial Circle –Liwasang Aurora.  The activity entitled “Kilos-kilos para sa Tubig”  is a part of the celebration of Philippine Water Week, leading to the global observance of World Water Day (WWD) on March 22, with theme: Water and Wastewater, to  highlight the need for proper treatment of wastewater to maximize its benefits particularly in agriculture. ###

Environment Secretary Gina Lopez (seated, center) responds to Mr. Manuel Galvez (seated, right) of the United Filipino Consumers and Commuters during the first day of her CA confirmation hearing held Wednesday, March 8, at the Senate.  Galvez opposed Lopez’s confirmation as DENR secretary alleging that the air quality monitoring stations purchased by the DENR were “not calibrated and are not giving correct data”.  Lopez said equipment were purchased before her time but nonetheless recognizes the problems that were stated by Galvez, stressing that the DENR “has already investigated the matter and taken steps.” ###
