DENR Caraga headed by Regional Executive Director Nonito M. Tamayo, joins the nation in celebrating the National Women's Month 2021 Kick-off Activity with the theme "๐–๐ž ๐Œ๐š๐ค๐ž ๐‚๐ก๐š๐ง๐ ๐ž ๐–๐จ๐ซ๐ค ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ ๐–๐จ๐ฆ๐ž๐ง" and this yearโ€™s campaign โ€œ๐™… โ€ on March 1, 2020 at the DENR Caraga Regional Covered Court, Brgy. Ambago, Butuan City.

The celebration serves as a tribute, a platform, and a call to action that highlights the extraordinary roles of ordinary ๐‰๐ฎ๐š๐ง๐š๐ฌ in the society as trailblazers and harbingers of change. This celebration is also a venue to discuss and address the issues that women continue to face so empowerment can be fully achieved. The campaign is also a call for concrete, sustainable, and inclusive actions towards gender equality.

This yearโ€™s campaign is different from the previous ones because it is set in the COVID-19 pandemic backdrop, which posed both challenges and opportunities for women. Hence, this yearโ€™s observance highlights womenโ€™s participation in battling the pandemic as well as discusses gender issues exacerbated by the pandemic. It is the time to delve deep into the gender issues that emerged or become more felt during the health crisis, feature women who thrived despite the circumstances, and share support systems and government programs that address womenโ€™s issues and concerns.

Selected personnel wearing the advocacy shirts and facemasks joined the call to advance women's rights, gender equality and end discrimination against women through the One Billion Rising (OBR) mass dance.

Moreover, flyers about the Use of Non-sexist Language in all Official Documents, Communications and Issuances were distributed as part of the kick-off activity.

Proper health protocols were observed during the activity.
