DENR Secretary Roy A. Cimatu calls for a meeting to discuss the Refocused Enhanced National Greening Program (eNGP) Implementation with his top officials on May 4, 2021 via Zoom platform.

DENR Caraga Regional Executive Director Nonito M. Tamayo attends the activity together with the Undersecretaries, Assistant Secretaries, other Regional Executive Directors, PENROs and CENROs.

Among the topics/areas presented are the refocused eNGP objectives that highlight protection which aims to increase forest cover and enhance biodiversity by planting indigenous/endemic species in/adjacent forests; and increase production to meet wood demand/deficit by planting fast-growing and desired species in open, brushlands to support the wood industry.

Moreover, Sec. Cimatu's directives were also discussed during the meeting: (1) secure funding for enhancement planting of graduated NGP sites; prioritize CY 2011 plantations for FY 2022, (2) enhance urban forestry, (3) reactivate seedling production and distribution program, (4) strict compliance on species choice/mix for planting, (5) inventory old reforestation projects/areas; LGU initiatives on forest/tree park establishment; private forest/tree plantations, (6) deployment of Greening Guardians in all CENROs/implementing PENROs, (7) submission of best photos of "growing forests" in NGP plantations, enhancement of graduated NGP sites and (9) government share in harvest of NGP plantations.
