The Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (DENR-CENRO) - Tubay in Agusan del Norte has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Surigao Economic Development and Microfinance Foundation Inc. (SEDMFI) and the Local Government Unit of Tubay (LGU-Tubay) for the preservation and sustainable management of the 15-hectare Mangrove Forest in Barangay Poblacion 2 of the municipality in a ceremony held at the town on March 8, 2024.

Signing on behalf of CENRO Tubay was its OIC-CENR Officer, Forester Hernan P. Ramirez; Hon. Mayor Jimmy Beray, representing the LGU-Tubay; and Attorney Joseph B. Nacario, SEDMFI representative. The Punong Barangay of Poblacion 2 and the Head Executive Assistant (HEA) of LGU-Tubay also witnessed the event.

Through the MOA, the parties compromised to work together for the preservation and sustainable management of the mangrove area adopted.

The agreement is a testament to the commitment of all parties to work together for the preservation and sustainable management of mangrove ecosystems.

It also marks a pivotal milestone in the journey towards mangrove conservation and underscores the power of collaboration in addressing complex environmental challenges.

Before the MOA signing, the officials and some volunteers engaged in a mangrove planting activity within the 15-hectare adopted mangrove forest.

The volunteers were personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection-Tubay Fire Station, Municipal Police Station of Tubay, 2nd Agusan del Norte Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC), Barangay Officials, and residents of Barangay Poblacion 2, and members and staff of SEDMFI.
