DENR Caraga through its Regional Strategic Communication and Initiatives Group (RSCIG) conducts Orientation cum Consultation Workshop on the Creation of DENR-EMB-MGB Caraga IEC Action Plan for CY 2024 with Information Officers and Youth Desk Officers region-wideon January 26, 2024, at the Regional Learning Center in Brgy. Ambago, Butuan City.

The creation of the Action Plan is a strategy to address issues and problems, and discuss other concerns on the implementation of Information, Communication, and Education or Communication, Education, and Public Awareness (IEC / CEPA) activities region-wide, and shall serve as a guide document of the DENR, EMB and MGB offices in Caraga region on their communication strategies throughout the year.

Moreover, the activity also aims to remove communication barriers identified within the respective field offices and provide recommendations/solutions to improve communication strategies and interventions.

DENR Caraga GAD Focal Point System (GADFPS) Focal Person Elsalyn J. Evangelio facilitates the conduct of GAD Year-end Assessment to harmonize all its initiatives region-wide at the Regional Learning Center on December 14, 2023.

The activity was attended by RED Nonito M. Tamayo together with all the members of the GAD FPS and focal persons in the field offices.

In his message during the program, RED Tamayo expressed his appreciation and all-out support for the GAD initiatives of the GADFPS.

DENR Caraga Regional Executive Director Nonito M. Tamayo, CESO III and ARD for Technical Services Maritess M. Ocampo together with Survey Team from DENR-National Capital Region present to Governor Robert Lyndon S. Barbers of the province of Surigao del Norte the aerial drone and topographic survey of possible relocation sites of the PO-Socorro Bayanihan Services, Inc. members on November 24, 2023 at the Provincial Capitol. The survey covered three (3) possible sites for relocation within the municipality of Socorro, should the PO’s PACBRMA be cancelled as a result of the investigation conducted last October, CY 2023.

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Monitoring Team, headed by the Regional Technical Advisor, Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific, Solene de Loze has commended the DENR-Caraga’s Physical Accomplishment for the Third Quarter of CY 2023 during the conduct of the field mission and oversight of the project entitled “Integrated Approach in the Management of Major Biodiversity Corridors in the Philippines” or Biodiversity (BD) Corridor executed by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)-Caraga Region, held at the DENR Regional Training Center, Butuan City on November 7, 2023.

The BD Corridor Project is funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) with DENR as the Executing Agency and the UNDP as the GEF Implementing Agency. It aims to operationalize integrated management of biodiversity corridors to generate multiple benefits including effective conservation of globally significant biodiversity, reduction of deforestation, and degradation of landscapes, and enhancement of livelihoods.

The UNDP Team also addressed the identified operational, financial, and programmatic challenges and constraints through the establishment of a remedial plan of action.

The Caraga Regional Development Council (RDC) approved the declaration of the region's Regional Development Plan Day through Resolution No. 57 series of 2023.

The designation holds significant historical and symbolic importance in the region's pursuit of its developmental goals. It aims to unite stakeholders collectively to realize the aspirations enshrined in the Caraga Regional Development Plan for 2023-2028.
